I replaced the brake rotor and it worked fine for one load now it wont aggaite or spin do I have to replace the pulley or is there a shim that I need to order
Answer Pete, You will need to check or replace several shims and cams. Check the pulley 40047102 make sure the center hub isn't distorted, check the helix/index cam and washer 40047402 for distortion and wear and tear and the two washers 40065701, 40063201 that activate and deactivate the brake rotor. You may have to add an additional washer in order to achieve the correct tolerances to make the gearcase shift properly.
The tub doesn't move in spin, and there is a constant cracking sound at the same time. Yet, the pulley does spin.
Answer Hello Bart,
The transmission will require replacement. If you attempt this repair, you will also require the Outer tub seal and spin bearing. I would include part numbers but the serial numbers' first two digits denote the specific replacement parts.
My maytag, when in washing cycle, the agitator operates normally, but the tub keeps spinning in a clockwise direction.
Answer Hello Praiman. The brakes are slipping. This part number is a kit which includes all three brake pads R0000014. It also includes an instruction sheet. Have a great day!
I just put the washer all back togather I put in new bearings and seal kit. All it wants to do is spin but will not agitate. HELP
Answer Hello George. Make sure the rotor R9900474 is holding the brakes so the unit can agitate. If not, you will need to check/replace the rotor. on the unit. Hope this helps.
How do you get this pulley off, past the bottom of the machine?
Answer Hello Mike. You will need to remove the springs and the tub assembly from the unit to remove the pulley 40047102. Hope this helps.
How do I get to see the brakes to see if they are broken and jammed?
Answer Hello Mike. You will need to remove the tub assembly from the cabinet and flip the tub over on it's top. Then you will remove the pulley system 40047102 to access and check out the brake assembly. Hope this helps.
When I turn this pulley AP4048391 by hand it turns easy counter clockwise but in the other direction it wants to stop.Washer does not want to spin.
Answer Hi Michael. Counter clockwise is agitation. Clockwise is spin. Therefore the brakes have to be released by the brake rotor. The rotor is part # R9900474 The brake pads are part # R0000014. Lift up the top. Remove the tub top cover. Is there any clothing jammed in between the inner and outer tub stopping regular operations? Remove the belt. Rotate the motor and the pump to see if they are working in both directions also. Inspect the brakes and see if they are broken and jammed in the clutch sideways. Thank You.
