I have the same issue as Mike Dishwasher has a heavy build up of material in cups. We have extremely hard wader in our home. I removed all parts to clean them and there was massive build up of detergent and water minerals. The filter seemed to be dirty on the inside but I could not open to clean completely. The dishwasher worked well for 3 months but is back to same issue. At this point I am considering buying a new filter and adding a water filter to the water line that leads to the dishwasher. Before I do so any way to fully clean the filter? Again all the micro filter sections are clearly blocked from the inside.
Answer Arthur, Your best option is to replace the filter assembly W10192799 , you'll only damage it trying to clean it. The filter material is pretty fragile. The remainder of the pump components can be cleaned with a solution of hot water, and a product such as "lime Away" or "CLR". Allow the solution to soak for 20 to 30 minutes, then wipe it out with a rag. Repeat again if necessary. Installing a filter will be of some benefit, but a softener system would be better, and make sure the water temperature in the tub is at least 120 dgrs.F. on the first fill of a cycle. The hotter the water the better the detergent chemicals break down and dissolve.
Washer will not start, does that have anything to do will the filter?
Answer Hello Ruth. No, either the control panel or the door switch would be the place to start on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. My dishwasher is only a year and 1/2 old and I hear the motor running but no water is entering. What could be the problem?
Answer Hello Bob. Check for power to the water valve. If none is there check for a stuck float or bad float switch. If there is power and no water, replace the valve. The dishwasher starts in short cycles then cuts off. It runs about a minute at most. The water will not drain out. The disposal works fine. I suspect something may be clogged but I don't know what.
Answer Joyce, Since the dishwasher wont wash, and it won't drain, the issue may be elsewhere in the machine. The washer pump/motor 6-919922 and drain pump 6-917641 are separate components and we wouldn't expect both to fail at the same time, even if they were clogged. You may want to check the electrical connections in the junction box in the front behind the lower access panel, then conduct the manual and automatic test modes listed in the tech data sheet in the envlope taped to the back of the kick plate. The tests will give you a better idea of where to start.
My dishwasher does not clean well it 4 years old.
Answer Hello John. Based on the information you provided, you will need to check the water level inside the unit and make sure it is filling up to the bottom of the heater assembly. If not, then the water valve 6-920534 could be bad on the unit. If the water level is good, try cleaning the filters under the spray arms inside the unit with dishwasher magic TJ104. Hope this helps.
Glasses and cups in the upper rack had food particles inside after a wash cycle. I removed the filter but could not find a way to clean it. The replacement part diagram shows a single pump filter plate (part # AP4362441) and apparently no way to take it apart for cleaning. If there is not a way to clean the filter, how often should it be replaced? My dishwasher is 5 years old and the filter was completely clogged. Thanks for the information.
Answer Mike, You normally don't need to clean or replace the filter flow plate, unless there is a heavy detergent or hard water deposit built up on the filter screens, at which point, you need to remove the lower spray arm, upper filter plate, pressure dome and impeller. It's a lot easier to make sure your water temperature is hot enough to disolve the detergent properly (120 dgrs in the bottom of the tub at the first fill of the cycle)You also want to run a citric acid based cleaner, such as "Glisten" WX10X10205 through the dishwasher, a couple of times a year, to reduce any debris or build up from the chemicals. Good Luck and Thanks
Some of the dishes (mostly the glasses on the top rack) are coming out with small pieces (chopped up pieces) of food stuck to them. A small part of the filter is torn, could this be what is causing the food to get stuck to the dishes and glasses?
Answer Hi Derek. Yes the pump filter, if torn will allow fod to collect on the plates. Remove the wash arms and clean the jets. Tere are no longer phosphates included in the detergents. Consider using a bit more soap or changing to Cascade Complete or Finish. Is the tub getting enough water? The pump filter is part # W10192799. Thank you.
