How can the push start switch be tested?
Answer Hello Gary. When pressed, the contact should close and when you release the switch, it should open for continuity. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
doing work on the house. turned off the gas line to the dryers. turned it back on. one dryer works, the other (maytag) doesn't heat.
Answer Chris, Did you move the dryer ? you may have accidentally damaged the igniter, and you're sure you turn the gas valve to the open position. Check and make sure you didn't kink or restrict the exhaust vent as well. Try this, remove the 1X1 in. square plastic cover from the front panel, and start the dryer. Using the "peep hole" observe, that the igniter glows, then fades and the gas ignites and the dryer heats. Let us know what you see, and we can get you going from there.
I have a Maytag Performa gas dryer and I can't figure out how to test the start switch. There are three wires two blue and one read. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou
Answer Dave, You forgot to attach the model number. But , as best we can tell, there should be four(4) wires to the start switch. The blue wire to the timer, should be on the top horizontal terminal, the blue wire to the motor, on the top vertical terminal, the pink/black wire to the neutral line, on the middle vertical terminal, and the tan wire to the signal buzzer on the bottom vertical terminal.
