One of my burners just suddenly quit working. When you turn it on the red light comes on but it doesn't heat up.
Answer Hello Cal,
This will either be a lost electrical connection, a bad infinite switch 7403P238-60 for a small element or for a large element 7403P239-60, or a bad surface element assembly 12002141 for the small elements or 74009743 for the large elements.
We have ordered the front left small burner but need to know the safest most efficient method of removing the glass top of the range. We have verified the burners are single units and won't have to be concerned with keeping all the other burners in place.
All the burners will stay in place as they are clipped into place. To remove the top you would need to remove the screw on either side of the unit in the door opening. Making sure that the power is off when you do this. You will lift the glass top off and disconnect the wire harness. You will then lay it glass down on a flat, soft surface to change the element. You will want to make sure that when you remove the clips that are screwed to the element that you note the number that it is located at because you will want to put in the same location on the new part.
Model aer5722baq the large right front burner only heats up on the outside not the center. which parts do I need to check It is a two setting burner.
You will want to check the burner for the inner burner to be burnt. Normally if the outer burner is working the switch is good and the element would need to be replaced. Part number for the element is 74009898.
One of my burners stopped working. It is the largest burner (top right when looking at the range). It made a sparking noise and went off and hasn't been working since. Rest of the burners and oven work just fine. What do I need to do? Thanks.
It sounds like the element may or switch may have burnt out. You will need to access the burner switch and check from H1 to H2 with the switch in the on position for 240vac. If there is proper voltage then the element is bad and if there is not then the switch is bad.
My son stood on the left side of our cooktop. Cracking/popping noise when he stepped on it. Now left side front & back burners turn on, heat up to high & unable to adjust cooking temperature. Not sure if I need new dual elements, radiant surface elements or what. Help please & thanks!
Answer Hello PAm,
You should unplug the unit or turn it off at the breaker and verify the power is off. Open the door and remove the screws (3 or 4) that thread straight up toward the ceiling. This will allow you to raise the top. It sounds like there may be a wiring issue where you hasve a wire or two shorting to ground. This should be evident when the top is raised. If the insulation is broken and you cannot configure the harness so it cannot short to ground, you may need to replace the harness for the surface burners 74010050.
I'm looking for the left front 6 inch burner element for model number indicated. Can we return this element if it does not fit? Thanks in advance.
Answer David, we have a model MER5755QAW (Q instead of 0). The 6" element is part number 12002141. We have a 365 day no hassle return policy available. Please see the following link to view our No Hassle Return Policy. Thanks! http://www.appliancepartspros.com/customerservice/returns.aspx
The big stovetop burner isn't working properly, sometimes when you turn it on it stays on high and sometimes it stays on simmer, not sure what part I need to make this repair. Maytag M/N MERH865RAS
Answer Michael, Your problem would be associated to the burner infinite switch(s) in the control panel. The Right Front large burner switch is 74003122 and the Left Front large "dual" element switch is 74003122. The "big stovetop burner" wasn't quite enough information.
