Would the ice maker stopped making ice if the filter needs replaced?
Answer Hi Anna, the manufacturer recommends that your place the water filter every six months depending on use. The filter would affect more the dispense rather than the icemaker. If the icemaker is not getting any water you migth have a defective water valve W10270395. Hope this helps!

I need help locating the water filter for my Kenmore Coldspot?
Answer Hello David. Sorry, there is no water filter on the model number you provided.
How do I replace the filter head inside the filter cover.
To replace the filter head, you will first need to pull out the unit and turn off the water supply. Disconnect the tubing that goes from the filter to the water valve and water supply lines. You will then remove the plate over the filter lines where they enter the cabinet. Go to the front of the unit and lower the cover of the filter and where it is hinged just pull to one side to release the cover and slide the opposite direction to remove the cover. Once this is done, the filter head is held in by clips that you would just pull the head out of the clips and pull the tubing and all out of the refrigerator and install the new one. Assemble in reverse.
I've looked all over and can't find the filter. Not on the back, kickplate or fresh compartment. Does it have a replaceable filter?
Answer Hello, according to the use and care guide for this model number if it has a water filter is located in the upper right hand corner of the fresh food compartment. It uses water filter UKF8001, thanks!
How can I change the filter? Where can I find it?
Answer Caridad, the filter is part number UKF8001. The filter is located in the refrigerator section. Here are the instructions from the user manual supplied for your model. Thanks. 1. Turn filter counterclockwise to remove. 2. Remove sealing label from replacement filter and insert the filter end into the filter head. 3. Turn the filter clockwise until it stops. Snap the filter cover closed. 4. Flush the water system. See “Water Dispenser” or “Water and Ice Dispenser.”
We replaced our original water filter about a year ago. About one week after replacing it when we tried to use the water dispenser, a loud knocking would occur and very little water came out. We purchased another filter believing the first was defective and it happened again. When we remove the filter and put the plug cap on the knocking does nor occur. The filter we purchased is part # UKF8001.
Is the knocking caused by the filter or is the inlet valve possibly bad?
In most cases when the filter gets turned in and the unit is making the knocking noise, it is because the filter did not get turned in fully and is not hitting the pins that allow the water to flow properly. When you get the filter turned in and it seems to stop then try to turn a little more and if it turns more then try the water and see if the knocking noise is still present. If not then the filter just was not in all the way and if it does continue to knock then the filter head would be the issue.
Not clear what replacement water filter to buy.
Answer Hello Sarah. Part# UKF8001 is the correct filter for your model.
