The first part of the agitation cycle works fine but it gets to a second part and it sounds like grinding...the agitator is still working but I fear something is not working correctly...any ideas on this?...thanks!
Answer Mool, You're initial diagnosis is a good place to start. You will need to remove the agitator cap / dispenser and the bolt underneath and check the agitator "dogs" and auger for stripped teeth. Then lift the agitator bottom 3951632 out and check the metal agitator shaft and the agitator center splines for white plastic debris and slippage. Your washer has a partial drain cycle mid way through the wash. It's possible for the agitator to start "slipping" and making noise at this portion of the cycle. If the agitator dogs and agitator check OK, we'll need to start looking at the timer.
Your video shows the upper agitator separating from the lower agitator but mine does not do that. How do I separate them to check to see why the top agitator is only catching to the lower agitator some of the time? The bottom agitator is working just fine.
Answer Hello JC! The upper agitator will pull off after the center screw has been removed. It may be tough so you'll have to stand on the bottom and tug on the upper agitator. If the upper agitator is doesn't agitate you'll more than likely have to replace the agitator dogs in cam kit part number 285809. Thanks!
