I have a whirlpool gold refrigerator. The ice maker quit working. What do I need to figure out whats wrong?
Answer Hello William. Make sure the freezer is between 0° and 5°. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
A follow-up to the bail arm support question, is bearing part # AP3131673 the part that supports the bail arm? And if so this part is available, is this the correct item for the model icemaker that comes in this unit?
Answer Hello Eddie! I do apologize for the confusion, after reveiwing the diagram a little more, yes the bearing 628356, also known as the fill cup, is correct for your product. The other end of the bail arm slides onto the shaft on the icemaker control module W10190935. Thanks.
It looks like the shaft piece that supports the bail arm is broken (white plastic), is this item replaceable? Thanks.
Answer Hello Eddie! The part is not available separate from the icemaker. You will have to replace the icemaker assembly. Your part number is 4317943. Thanks.
