While washer is spinning it makes a loud whirring noise.I moved washer out from wall and see a (what seems like) white tiny plastic shavings. What is wrong?
Answer Hello Barbara. The plastic shavings are from the snubber. If it is making a noise, you will need to check the pump 35-6780 and the thrust bearing 12002213. You will need to lean the washer back and turn the pulleys by hand, with the belt removed. Hope this helps.

I removed belt and hand turned thrust bearing by hand. It turns freely, but you have to turn it about 1/2 turn before it grabs. Is there a problem?
Answer Hello Barbara. No, that is working properly. Did the pump seem to be ok as well? If so, make sure the tub bearing is not bad. Hope this helps.

the washer shakes and moves during the spin cycle
Answer Ana, The friction ring/snubber 36108 could create a vibration issue if it is badly worn or "sticking" to the base or isolator. You will also need to check the centerring springs 35948 and ensure they're not stretched out or have loss their tension, and the base to make sure it is not cracked or flexxing when the tub moves.
The washer squeaks when in agitator cycle. What is the like cure?
Answer Hello Richard. Based on the information you provided, you will need to replace the brake 35-6714, stator 35-6918, and the snubber 21002026 on the unit.
Do you grease the new snubber?
Answer Hello Bill,
No you would not grease the snubber. You would want to clean the base with rubbing alcohol to make sure that it is clean.
Amana washer with hardly any thing in it acts like it is out of balance and shakes/wobbles when spinning out. Is it snubber?
Answer Hello Scott. Yes, based on the information you provided, it sounds like the snubber 21002026 is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit.
My washer shakes violently when spinning. Thanks!
Answer Hello Lency,
There a very few things that can cause the unit to shake violently. I'll mention them all. First and foremost, the leveling legs have to all four not only contact the floor, but also share the load. This is important because the inner tub is mounted on springs. This allows the springs to absorb the vibration of an out of balance load. If the body can move because it isn't setting level (evenly), it will hop, skip, and jump across the floor.
The second think I need to cover is the items that comprise the load. If there is one item that is more moisture absorbent, this item will weigh more and will throw the unit out of balance.
Now we are getting to the part that can be caused by the machine by itself. The balance ring is located around the top edge of the inner tub. If it is no longer attached to the inner tub or is damaged, it will cause the unit to shake violently. Also if the inner tub is loose, (it is attached to the upper transmission shaft with a spanner nut), this can cause the issue.
There are three suspension springs that could be damaged that should be inspected. I doubt that the snubber pads are involved as this would cause a distinctive noise. This will give you some things to check and hopefully will lead you to the issue. I tried to send you some literature that included some illustrated instructions, but your e-mail refused delivery.
