Ice maker will dispense cubed ice but no longer dispenses crushed ice. I question if the solenoid is functioning properly or not? What else could cause this?
Thank you !
Answer Hello David. Test for power to the solenoid and if there is power there, and the solenoid does not work, replace the solenoid. If there is no power there, then the solenoid is fine and you will need to trace and see where you are losing power at. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
I replaced the ice chute flap, and now the ice bin is not dispensing crushed ice, is it the solenoid? AP4071375
Answer Hi Jamie. Flush out the ice bin completely with water. Make sure the auger and the crusher blades are not clogged and completely dry upon reinstalling. Make sure the long brass colored round arm that extends on the bottom of the ice bin is fully inserted into the crusher solenoid beside the auger motor. The solenoid is part # 61005253. Ohm the coils for resistance. Check each terminal individually to the casing to make sure it is not shorted. Change the yoke assy. part # 61005844 both at the same time. If the fountain control command works and the solenoid itself hums then we at least know the control board and wires to the solenoid are ok. Thank You.
My ice-maker can not push ice out..Motor keep on trying to turn but the ice in the tray can not come out..Please help!!!!!!!!
Answer Hello Tony. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the icemaker D7824706Q is bad and will need to be replaced. Hope this helps.
Does the Solenoid, part number AP4071375, control the movement of the arm for cubed and crushed ice? I think this is broken on our machine since it now only crushes ice. Thanks for the help! Rick Daniels
Answer Rick, Yes, the shifter solenoid activates the shifter arm, which activates the chopper blades . When cubed ice is selected, the solenoid activates, and allows the bin to dispense cubed ice. When the crushed ice is selected, the solenoid remains inactive and the cubes are forced through the chopper blades abd the cubes get crushed. Check and make sure the end of the shifter arm is mounted to the bin properly and the end of the shaft is inside the "yoke" 61005844 opening of the solenoid assembly, before you replace the parts. Thanks and Good Luck
