I read all the associated stories regarding the sound dampening strip. What's unclear is whether I need to dismantle the door to replace it. Will installation instructions come with the part?
The manufacturer does not include installation instructions with this part and to replace the part you will need to take the screws out of the inner door panel. Lift the panel and remove the old filter and install the new insulation.
Forgot to ask one other thing. What is the length of the door gasket? Mine doesn't reach the bottom of its slot on either side of the tub, and there is some leaking under the door from one corner. Also the foam gasket doesn't seal well around the wires. Is it supposed to contain the water-or is it simply for sound deadening? Thanks again
Answer Hello Charles,
The foam gasket is not designed to seal water. Also the door seal is not designed to go across the bottom since the bottom of the door is designed to be the air inlet for the dry cycle. If water is jumping the air gap you need to check the spray arms for debris. You see, if the spray arm is partially clogged on one end, there will be more pressure escaping from the other end. As the spray arm spins, this inconstant pressure will put a "wave" in the water in the bottom of the tub. This will "slosh" the water over the air gap.
There a gasket on bottom of door it leaks. I put a new gasket around door. I felt under door and it is mushy thanks
There is a foam insulation that is at the bottom of the door that could be bad but you will also want to make sure that the spray arms are not clogged or damaged which would cause the arm to spray in an unnatural way and cause rippling of the water which would cause it to splash out.
The dishwasher is level. I changed the water switch. However, does the foam strip prevent water leaking under the door panel too?
Answer Hi Jack. The insulation strip is mainly for noise reduction. Part # W10117748. The door seal part # 902894 is the one that makes sure the inner door panel seals the tub area. Thank You.
My dishwasher is leaking underneath the door. Its holding water in the bottom of tub after cycle ends. My husband checked the line to washer and it is not blocked?
Answer Hi Bobbie. Remove the lower kick panel and see if all the legs are level and touching the floor. Disconnect the hose from under the sink and try to pump(cancel) into a bucket. Check tjhe hose end and the sink connection for clogged. The pump impeller can be loose on the pump shaft and causing it to back up. Use your installation manual to see if the drain is hooked up correctly. It will show that the drain hose should enter the very top of the cabinet. It then needs to be looped and clamped there to the upper most back wall. Then taught to the drain plumbing point of the sink. Take the top of the motor assy. apart to clean the screen filter regullairly. Use dishwasher clean monthly so it will clean the entire wash system. This part # is TJ104. The pump part # is 6-917641. Thank you.
Do you include instructions on how to put in this piece?
Answer Hello Michele. You will need to disconnect the power to the unit. Then remove the screws holding the inner door panel in place and remove the inner door panel. The new strip W10117748 installs on the bottom of the outer door panel. You will remove the tape and place the strip inside the outer door panel. Hope this helps.
