I was told that "dusting" the Membrane Switch would most likely make the oven work again - what is meant by dusting - air/micro cloth and does the switch need to be removed to do so?
Answer Hello Dave. "Dusting" means to clean the membrane. You can try cleaning the ribbon cable on the unit, but most of the time you have to replace the membrane to repair the unit.
Jenn air range I need the oven control panel, black. Do you have any ideas where I can get one? Thank you, Max
Unfortunately the control panel 71002649 in black has been discontinued by the manufacturer with no suitable replacement available.
Can you please advise of the process for replacing this part? Also, can you tell me what the difficulty level would be considered for such a repair? I would like this information in order to determine if this is something that I am comfortable completing myself.
Answer Dennis, This is not a very difficult process. You first need to remove power to the range (reset the breakers to off) To remove the control panel, open the oven door as wide as possible. Remove four(4), 1/4 " hex head screws from the bottom of the control panel. Grasp the control panel by placing hands on the right and left sides of the panel, pull out and down to disengage. Be careful when removing the panel, you don't want to accidentally disconnect the wires from the switches or the ERC/Clock. Usually there is enough wire in the harness to remove the components from the panel, without needing to disconnect any wires, but if you do, make sure you label or mark any wires you disconnect first, it'll make the re installation a lot easier.
