My dryer won't start it's not the switch changed that a month ago love the video that helped me and it saved me money took the vent fuse off but don't know how to check and see if it's bad don't have a meter thing.
Just as a test you could connect the 2 leads from the thermal fuse together to see if the dryer will start. If it will then you will need to replace the thermal fuse but do not use the unit until the part is replaced as it is a safety device. If the thermal fuse does turn out to be bad then you will want to check to make sure that the vent is clear from the blower wheel all the way to the outside of your home.
On the push to start button on my dryer, does there need to be 120 volts on all four prongs?
Answer Hello John,
If there were 120Vac on all prongs, there would be no use for the switch since a switches job is to discontinue or pass the voltage. You will need to refer to the wiring diagram to discern the wiring and determine which should have voltage and which is the load side of the switch. We can assist you further if you could please re-post with the verified model number from the units' I.D. tag.
How do you remove the replacement switch to start the dryer. I already removed the back metal plate and can see the push start switch but not sure how to remove it. Thanks, Roger
Answer Hello Roger,
If you refer to the first picture of the switch on our website, the long narrow part that protrudes to the right is a lock. It should be raised with a small screwdriver and then the switch will rotate. After rotating about 1/4 turn, the switch will drop out into your hand.
Light doesn't work...can it be replaced?
Answer Hello Coleen. We will need your model number to help you with this. Please post your model number with a new question on the parts page. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/modelnumber_locator.aspx
Dryer starts immediately when moved from "off" position without pushing the "push to start" button. I open and close the door to turn it off and on. The push to start switch tested OK at a replacement parts place. What do I need to replace to fix it???
Answer Lou, Based on your post information, if the start switch is working proper, and you have to open the door to stop the dryer, the motor switch neutral cicuit would have to be defective. You'll need to replace the motor assembly 279787 or check the white wire to the motor for a short to chassis ground.
Have replacement switch but not sure which wires go to what terminal.
Answer Hello John. If you look on the unit, there should be a wiring diagram to help you locate the correct place for the wires on the start switch 3404233. Most of the time, it is located in the control panel of the unit.
