How do you remove the replacement switch to start the dryer. I already removed the back metal plate and can see the push start switch but not sure how to remove it. Thanks, Roger
Answer Hello Roger,
If you refer to the first picture of the switch on our website, the long narrow part that protrudes to the right is a lock. It should be raised with a small screwdriver and then the switch will rotate. After rotating about 1/4 turn, the switch will drop out into your hand.
Light doesn't work...can it be replaced?
Answer Hello Coleen. We will need your model number to help you with this. Please post your model number with a new question on the parts page. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/modelnumber_locator.aspx
Dryer starts immediately when moved from "off" position without pushing the "push to start" button. I open and close the door to turn it off and on. The push to start switch tested OK at a replacement parts place. What do I need to replace to fix it???
Answer Lou, Based on your post information, if the start switch is working proper, and you have to open the door to stop the dryer, the motor switch neutral cicuit would have to be defective. You'll need to replace the motor assembly 279787 or check the white wire to the motor for a short to chassis ground.
Have replacement switch but not sure which wires go to what terminal.
Answer Hello John. If you look on the unit, there should be a wiring diagram to help you locate the correct place for the wires on the start switch 3404233. Most of the time, it is located in the control panel of the unit.
Dryer will not start. I checked thermal fuse, door switch, push to start switch all OK. I can hear the timer running. The push to start switch has 4 terminals which are hot? From what I understand voltage should come from the motor to the switch? Any ideas? Is the motor bad?
Answer Hello Dan. On the side of the switch 3404233. When pressed, the com and the NO will read closed for continuity on a meter. Try opening the door and taping the door switch closed. Then press the start button and use your foot to spin the drum. If the dryer runs, the motor is bad on the unit.
When I push the start button the dryer will not start .. ?
Answer Hi Bobby. You need to check the thermal fuse first to see if it is open part # 3392519 located at the blower hsg. You can temporarily jump these 2 wires together w/ elect tape and see if it works now. If it does then you have located the issue. If not then use the same principal on the start sw, by jumping the wire and the wire together. If the unit now runs then replace the start sw. which is a relay system part # 3404233. Thank You.
