We have a bad upper over broil element, was arcing. Upon taking apart I noticed the wire that attaches to the element and the limit switch was frayed and burnt, I disconnected the wire and taped up the other wire figuring the rest of the stove and cook top would work until the new parts are received. Upon reseting the breaker the nothing worked until you turned a cook top knob then the clock would come on but nothing gets hot. Would this limit switch being out of the loop stop everything from working? Also is the wire used between the element and the limit switch a special wire?

The terminal block I see in the picture looks different than mine. The one on the back of my stove has 6 contacts, two for each red, black, and white. Will this terminal block work?

The terminal block on the back of this stove has been damaged by what looks to be a defective part! One of the metal positive posts attached to the block worked its way loose and came in contact with the panel cover and created a dead short against the panel which burt a hole through the galv. panel cover. It also burt the red wire to the stove. Have you heard of this before? This stove is 2 years old and has worked fine. We noticed a flash and a pop 2 to 3 times (at different times) The short alos burt the positive leed on the pigtail, but looks ok to use. Need your thoughts?
