Answer Hello Mike,
You will want to access the blower assembly and check to make sure that nothing got down into the blower wheel causing to jam. If this checks ok then you will want to also check to make sure that belt did not break.
If thermal fuse blows out what does it look like? My whirlpool works great, but now no heat.
Answer Hello Tony. If the thermal fuse blows, the unit will not run. Check and make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer. Check and make sure the unit is not set to Air Fluff. Also check the heater and thermostats and see if they are good. You can test these with a multi-meter TJMA-DM1. They should read closed for continuity. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
Can the thermal fuse AP2947182 fail on its own, or does there have to be an underlying reason?
Answer Hello Joe. The fuse 3399849 can fail on it's own, but usually does due to a venting or heating issue.
hello, I blew out the thermal fuse in my dryer. My question is what are the malfunctions that cause this fuse to blow? What does this fuse do? thank you.
Answer John, That style fuse, should control the 120 VAC power supply to the motor, if it opens, the motor won't start or run. This style fuse is a heat sensitive device, so you'll need to start searching for a heater problem( clogged exhaust system, dirty lint filter, overload, etc.
Thanks and Good Luck
