Can the thermal fuse AP2947182 fail on its own, or does there have to be an underlying reason?

My dryer spins but has no heat. Opened it up and was expecting to find a bad element. Much to my surprise this was not the case. I put a multi-meter to the element, thermostat and fuses and the only one that read bad was the thermal fuse. It read infinity. Is this my culprit? The unit otherwise functions normally minus heat.

I need to replace the thermal fuse but there only seems to be one 12" x 12" access panel on the back of the dryer of the stacked unit and that is not the correct way to get to the fuse it just is access to the 120V wire connections. Do I need to dissemble the whole back or do I get to it from inside the drum or do I have to remove the drum to get to it? Thanks, Carl

We removed the part from the machine and it has a different number than the part you wrote us. Are they interchangeable or do we need this one. 65AP0500TFO91C AU13399849
