I have changed the defrost thermostat and timer which is located at the bottom of the unit. It seems like the compressor is not going on the way it should. The temperature in the freezer has been 43 degrees for the last 2 days since the replacement of the defrost thermostat and timer. It went from running 53 degrees down to 42. My freezer is blowing cold air but is not getting cold enough. I checked the condenser coils and they were very dirty so I cleaned them using a leaf blower. I am thinking that when I did this it caused the timer to fail but have since replaced the timer and the issue is still occurring. With the freezer only getting to 43 degrees the icemaker is not working. Can you give me a professional opinion of what I may need to replace. I need to know what is going on and I am not going to quit.

I have a side by side Amana refrigerator which I purchased in 2001, it slowly started not keeping the freezer cold. I took the back panel in the freezer of, and the coils on the evaporator was only frosted up just past the defrost thermostat, I turned it off and unplugged the both fans the one under the unit and the one in the freezer compartment and the turned it back on and let it run for 15 minutes. The when I checked all the coils were cold, however when I plugged the fans back in and let it run, it got heavy frost only just past the defrost thermostat.

I changed control thermostat, defrost timer, and now realize I think the problem is in defrost t-stat or element. freezer cools for a day, then slowly warms up next day. The evaporator [I think #0053 in diagram] in back, of inside freezer, ices up and the fan above it does not come on until I thaw with hair dryer, 60 seconds later fan comes on and starts cooling cycle again.

I have a 12 year old Kenmore elite refrigerator and both the freezer and refrigerator sides are not cooling. Although, the evaporator fan and compressor are running great. Do I need to replace the defrost thermostat? I've checked door seals and cleaned out the dust under the refrigerator. What else can I do? Help! ex-soccer Mom.

I have an Amana side by side. The freezer coils in the back continue to freeze up. I have taken the hair dryer to unthaw it and it freezes up again. I have also noticed that the fan in the back of the freezer is always on. It has done this 3 times before. It seems to not defrost. What part would I need to order?

I have my Amana refrigerator and I changed this thermostat for another one (generic one) because I live in Venezuela. But after that the temperature in both sides are not cold enough (the ice cream is never hard). How many degrees does this original one has or how do I buy the right one for me? If you send it outside USA I'd buy it from you. Thanks in advance. Sergio
