My dryer doesn't automatically shut off. Is there anything else that would cause this other than the timer? If it is the timer, do I need any other parts?
Answer Hello Breezyjean. You will need to test and see if your getting power to the timer motor. If there is power to the timer motor, and the timer does not move, you will need to replace the timer. Hope this helps.

I replaced the motor, it was bad. Now the timer will not shut off. If you have it in normal dry the timer motor dose run , but if in time dry the timer doesn't run.
Answer Robert, Recheck and make sure the tan/white wire is attached to the proper terminal of the new motor (5M). Then check for a "closed" circuit between terminals GY(gray) and WB(white/black) at the timer terminals, with the timer set in the timed dry portion of the dial. If all's OK, check or replace the electronic control board 8558178.
Do you happen to know the price point for this model?
Answer Erica, if it is for the timer 3976576 it would be the price listed on our site. However, if you are asking for the price of the appliance itself, we do not have that information. Thanks.
Dryer will start if the button is held down, but if held down the timer will run backwards until time is out.
Answer Hello lucyandpaco. It sounds like the timer needs to be replaced. If the motor issue continuies after, you will need the motor as well for the unit.
I was just chatting with parts dept and they suggested asking you my question. Something feel out of the overhead cabinet and broke my timer knob off of the stem. Do I need to replace the complete timer unit (AP3100522)
and if so, does it come with instructions?
Answer Tracy, We'd expect you to need a new timer 3976576 in the near future, if not now. If what ever fell and broke the timer dial knob, was probably pretty heavy, chances are the timer shaft is bent or may have become out of alignment with the internal contacts of the timer. No it will not come with installation instructions, but it's not that hard a repair to perform. Unplug the power cord, remove the three or four screws across the back side of the control panel and "roll" it forward from the top. Remove the timer mounting screws, and reverse the procedure to install.
When I hit the start button on dryer I only get a buzzing sound and the dryer does not work.
Answer RC, Without a model number, it's a bit difficult to diagnose and make a recomendation. But basically, you want to make sure you have the proper power supply to the dryer at the outlet. At this point there's a slight possibility that the timer has a bad contact, but it's more likely and issue in the dryer motor itself, or the wiring. With a proper model number we can assist you better and more efficiently.
