Have discovered that my defrost timer runs VERY SLOW as much as 20 or more hours between defrosts. Timer runs perfect on the bench at room temp but when I install it ,it runs way off. Here's the kicker!!! Wired it and put it in another fridge at 38deg or so and it runs perfect. Looks like something in my unit is drawing too much juice and slowing it down. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hope you have some idea what is wrong I'm baffled. Jay

What now? Tested the timer according to instructions and it tested good.__the old one of course. Frig stopped running at 45deg and stayed that way till i tapped the control box a bit then it started running again till it got down to 39deg. I tested the thermostat a week ago and it tested good. O at the coldest setting--and infinity at the lowest setting when it had been the freezer for 30 min. When I installed the new timer it defrosted and water ran into the pan under the frig. No problem.Seemed to be ok till it ran for awhile. Just checked the temp and it is46.5deg. Not running--tapped the control box and it started. Where do I go from here? sorry to keep bothering you but am at a loss as to what to do. Thanks again Al

Have gotten mixed instructions on how to test a defrost timer--could you send instructions on the proper way to test it? Put in the new one and it is working as of now but would like to test the old one just for the experience. Frig only got down to 45deg so far but assume it is taking a break--compressor too hot perhaps? Anyway thanks for your help. OLD Al

Freezer works fine but refrigerator is to warm. I put a different defrost timer (not the proper one) just to see if that helped the problem, it did not.The only time the fan in the freezer that blowes air into the frige part seems to come on is when I set the timer to where it defrosts. I also bipassed the door switch to see if that was the problem.
