While disassembling the dryer to replace a thermistor I mishandled the user interface panel and the small ribbon cable snapped right in half. I can't find it listed anywhere. Someone suggested I'd have to buy the electronic control 853059 and the cables would be included. Is that my only option?

Our whirlpool duet dryer has recently been acting up in the following manner: The cycle selection wheel and everything to the left of it works properly. The temperature select and the chime volume buttons no longer do anything with both being stuck on high heat and high volume. We had tried a power cycle on the unit and nothing changed. We also tried the diagnostic tests and all passed except for being able to use the above buttons. This to me sound like the console electronics board being bad but was not sure if this was a symptom of the machine control board going out.

The knob on the face which selects the dry cycle is broken. But when I look at the replacement part the knob does not have a shaft so it appears that mine broke off inside since the shaft is still attached to knob. I know I need the new knob ( also the little plastic pc. is broken that locks in allows it to turn ) but how do I remove the broken piece still inside , and then what parts do I need . I did not see that part on the diagram. I guess the face ( control panel)has to come off to retrive it ? Is it something fairly easy to do ? I am in the middle of nowhere really nowhere building border patrol houses so I have to do it myself plus drive 120 mile round trip to get my mail when the part is delivered. So I am stuck and need my dryer working running out of clothes !

The cycle selector is getting flakey I believe. Cannot get some cycles to be selected. For example, when the selector is pointed to the 9 o'clock cycle, the LED for 11 o'clock lights up. This happens for about 4-5 of the cycles. I think the user interface board needs to be replaced. However, there is some talk about a potentially bad ribbon cable which is part of the console panel. I have not had the unit apart yet. Would you lean toward replacing the user interface P/N 8530589?

My whirlpool dryer has dashes in the display for 3 of the rotary switch settings. I'm going to do the resistance test described in the trouble shooting guide to test the UI board. Is there anything else I should look for before I replace the UI board?

I have a Duet dryer. The last time it stopped the load wasn't quite dry. The wife went to adjust dryness level for more. When she pushed start the sensing light came on and nothing happened. If you cancel out everything you can push the Control On button and set up as desired. Auto or manual when the start button is pushed the sensing light comes on and the dryer does not start. I have turned off the breaker with the same results. Would this be the user interface board, the control board or something else?

My dryer comes on you can make any selections you want but when I hit start it just beeps at me like when the door is not shut good and does not start. I have made sure the door is shut good and light does go off with door secure. It did this once before several months ago. I had a repair man come out...he took it apart couldn't find what was wrong so was going to pick it up to take into their shop the next day and the next day. I just tried it and it started and has worked fine until now. What could this be?

When drying in automatic mode, heavy duty or normal selection, the timer starts at 56 minutes, decrements correctly for about 6-7 minutes, then jumps down to 24 minutes left, then will jump up to 40 minutes for a few minutes then start beeping that the cycles has finished. It seems to work in manual mode with no issues. Please help. Peter
