I have a Whirlpool dishwasher GU2300XTVB1 and it does not drain. I removed the drain hose from under the washer and water flowed freely. I could not blow or suck from the drain hose at all? Do you think I need to replace the check valve? Any instructions available? Also should I replace the impellers at this time? Thanks
Answer Hello Chuck,
Did you try removing the other end of the drain hose? If not, you should and be aware that there is another check valve made in the hose itself. You should be able to blow through the hose toward the drain from the dishwasher end, but the check valve in the drain hose W10481093 will prevent you from blowing back toward the dishwasher.
I am trying to check the check valve as the dishwasher isn't draining all the way. I'm sure it is clogged. I can't figure out how to get the top of the grinder housing off. I assume the check valve is under there. I got the sprayer arm off and took out the three hex screws. Now what? I want the satisfaction of fixing it myself, but I'm turning out to be such a chick :-) Help please!
Answer Hello Trace,
To remove the part you described, you need to remove the water tower that runs up the back wall of the unit. I usually pull up on the release on the rear of the internal rear feed cap and rotate it about 1/4 turn to the right, (clockwise). This will allow you to raise it up off of the center of the accumulator assembly. You can now remove the forth screw that was previously hidden under the feed cap. The accumulator should now lift up and out of the machine. The main thing in this area that you should check and service is the chopper assembly 8268383. If the chopper blade shaft is broken, you will see a lot of food particles on the chopper screen which is located under the two plastic covers in the bottom of the sump area.
You can disconnect the drain line from the drain under the sink and blow into it. If the check valve is operational, you will not be able to blow through it. If you hear the air you blow through it in the bottom of the tub area, the check valve has failed. When you get into the sump area, the check valve looks like a black stripe as you can only see the edge of it.
My wife's dishwasher will not pump water up to the spray arms, the strainer, impellar is clear and the pump empty,s the sump when draining. Could this be the check valve?
Answer Hi Hawkshaw. Have you cleaned the spray arms? Is the water manifold assembly ad joining the spray arm funnel assembly when the rack is pushed back? If So you might need to replace the circulation motor part # is W10239404. Or replace the whole motor/ pump assembly is part # W10239405. Thank you.
