WHEN FILLING WASHER ON EITHER WARM OR HOT TEMP OF WATER IS SAME. MY WIFE SWEARS IT WAS HOTTER ON HOT SETTING UP TO SEVERAL WEEKS AGO. IS THIS POSSIBLY THE THERMISTER BAD? VALVE APPEARS CLEAN. OR IS THE NATURE OF THE BEAST?
The way to test is to check the water temperature. Let the tub fill with water and the temp should be 78 degrees on warm and 105 on hot. While it is possible that the thermistor is not working properly, it would normally have issues with the cold water fill as well.
WATER SAME TEMP WARM OR HOT. CONTROL WORKS FINE OTHERWISE. VALVE APPEARS TO HAVE NO SEDIMENT IN IT. ANY ADJUSTMENTS ON CONTROL? IS THERMISTER BAD? OR IS THIS NORMAL DUE TO HOT WATER TEMP? WIFE SWEARS HOT WAS HOTTER WHEN WASHER WAS NEW. THANKS
Answer John, your washer is an "energy star" machine. It has always had a "Target Temperature" : Hot water temp 105-110 dgrs.F, warm water temp. 78-92 dgrs.F. and cold water temp. 62-70 dgrs.F. (+/_ 10%) Only one of the cold water temp settings is un controlled ( whatever the cold water temperature out of the faucet is what will fill the tub). In some areas of the country, the thermistor can be slow to react due to the extremely low cold water temp.(northern climates) or the warmer cold water temp (dessert climates). The water temp. thermistor is actually part of the fill valve / flume assembly W10144820 and as long as you have good water flow through the assembly, the thermistor will react properly. You may want to start a wash cycle and check the water temperatures entering the tub with a cooks pocket thermometer. This will help determine if there is an issue.
Replacing W10144820 valves need to know where locking tab for the lid is located.
Answer Hello Walt. We will need your model number to help you with this. Please post your model number with a new question on the parts page. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/modelnumber_locator.aspx
How do you take the washer shell off to make repairs?
Answer Hello Sonny. Disconnect the power. Remove the screws on the back of the corner end caps. Pull the control panel forward and flip it backwards. Now unplug the lid switch and remove the 2 brass clips and pull off the cabinet on the unit.
Cold water runs slow when ever turned on?
Answer Hello Bob. Check the screens and see if they are clogged. If not, and the water pressure coming to the unit is good, replace the water valve.
Hello, how so I replace the water inlet valve on my Kenmore 110.29422801 with this part? Is there a video or diagram you can offer?
Here are step by step instructions as well. 1. Unplug washer or disconnect power. (also disconnect the fill hoses) 2. Slide a putty knife under the right or left corner of the control panel. Lift the corner of the panel and push back on the knife blade to release the clip. Repeat the procedure for the other clip. 3. Rotate the control panel and position it back out of the way. 4.Lift the locking tab, and disconnect the main harness from the lid switch connector. 5.Remove the 5/16? hex-head screw from the green ground wire on the lid switch. Lift the washer lid so it is straight up. Release the locking tab and pull the lid switch up and out of the cabinet top opening. 6. Use a screwdriver and unclip the left and right cabinet spring clips from the cabinet top. 7. Rotate the cabinet up in the back and slide forward so you can access the top of the tub, and set the cabinet aside." You now have access to the fill valve assembly Use a flat blade screw driver and remove the plastic mounting pin, and disconnect the tabs in the assembly from the slots in the cabinet back, disconnect the wires and reverse the procedure to install the new valve assembly.
