Can the impeller be replaced by itself or do you have to change the whole pump from the washer machine?
Robert for Model Number 11045081400
Answer Hello Robert! Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not offer the impeller separate from the pump assembly 280187. Thanks!
The spin cycle works but, sometimes doesnt drain?
Chris Bac
Answer Hello Chris, you likely need to be checking your drain pump. If that's not it, please provide your model number and re-post the problem. Thanks!
My pump unit 280187 needs replacing. No problem with that. My question pertains to the lack of the 'filter' unit. Is that really needed or does it attach to this replacement unit? I don't want any loose coins or something else damaging a new pump unit. Thanks.
Dave for Model Number 11044932200
Answer Hello Dave,
The only "filter" this washer has is the trap made in the screw off cap on the drain pump. This comes with the new drain pump 280187. This screw off cover is the part that catches coins and debris.
What does F28 mean?
Julie for Model Number Whirlpool duet ht
Answer Hello Julie,
The F28 error code indicates a communication error between the Central control unit (CCU) and Motor control unit (MCU). You want to check the connections of MCU and CCU. Check belt for wear. Run a cycle to verify CCU operation. Check the MCU by looking for operation of drive motor. If all this checks ok then you would need to replace the CCU.
My pump stopped pumping water, the motor runs but the impeller and shaft do not spin when pressure is applied. Can I replace just the impeller and shaft? How about just the motor? I do not need the whole pump kit.
Don for Model Number GHW9100LW1
Answer Hello Don,
If the motor stops when pressure is applied, the motor will require replacement. You should make sure the impeller assembly has not separated and isn't just spinning on the motor shaft.
Hi. We have a 2004 Frigidare front load washer machine - inexpensive one that we bought at Lowe's. We have had not one problem with it, and today when I did a load of sheets, it started sounding like there was a whole roll of loose quarters bouncing around in it, several shrieky noises and then the machine stopped on the final spin and just buzzed. My husband thinks that is the water pump, the water did not drain from the washer, but I divided up the load into several small loads and got it to spin. Any ideas? Thanks a bunch!

Answer Hi. Use a shop vac and a few towels to pick up the tub water backed up. Remove the lower front panel and locate the pump part # 280187 on the bottom front right. It has a spin off round cover that has a trap area that pocket debris will fall into. This is the pump intake area. It sounds like you have debris stuck in the impeller area. If the impeller spins loose on the shaft or if the pump armature is water logged -then replace the pump. Remove the tub-to-pump hose (sump Hose) and make sure all is clear on the tub hole and hose as well. This will allow the unit ti drain, then the high speed spin occurs as the pressure switch and the control board senses a normally empty tub. Thank You.
what could be wrong with a washer that allows drain water to return to the tub sometime after a complete cycle is over.it does not happen immediately but over a period of time. the wash water must be pumped up to a drain line as the washer is in the basement.
Leea for Model Number A412 series 02
Answer Leea, Are you sure it's "dirty" drain water ? It could be a "seaping" fill valve 205613, allowing "clean" water to drip into, and fill the the wash tub in the OFF position. There is a "slight" possibility that the siphon break 206638 has failed and allows the water to syphon back in the tub, but that also indicates you need to have your drain pipes cleaned. Try shutting off the water faucets to the washer, when it's not in use (for a couple of days) If there's no water in the tub, you have a faulty fill valve, if there is water in the tub, you need a plumber to clean the drain pipes.
