My washer was working fine but has had a slight burnt rubber smell for some time now. Well as of last night, once the spin cycle hits, it will slowly spin and make a humming noise but the water does not drain. The burnt rubber smell has gotten stronger. Could this be the belt? thanks!
Answer Hello Rhyrhy. It could be the belt, but you will need to turn the pulleys by hand and see what is binding up the belt. It could be the pump 35-6780, or the thrust bearing 12002213 on the unit. If the thrust bearing is releasing the brake assembly, but the tub drags, you will need to replace the tub bearing 12001598. Hope this helps.
All functions (fills, drains, agitates) work correctly except the spin cycle. What could be the problem?
Answer Hello April! You will need to test and replace the lid switch 22003804 if defective. You can test this part using a multimeter TJMA-DM1. Here is a link from our free repair forum you can refer to for help with using a multi meter. Hope this helps, thanks! http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
Agitation is slow with loud squealing noise and smells like the belt. What would cause the belt to fail? All other functions are working but spinning is also slow.
Answer Hello John. First you will want to remove the belt from the motor and make sure the motor moves freely on the slide plate. You will want to replace the belt 22003483. Also if the motor is able to move freely, remove the cap under the thrust bearing pulley 12002213. If you find a lot of shavings in the cap you will have to replace the kit. Thanks!
Maytag modle no. Mav8557aww washer. Don't spin all the way out. Could it be the belt?
Answer Hello Francis. You will need to check the thrust bearing 12002213 and see if it is worn or bad. If so, it can cause the machine to not spin out correctly. It should release the brake without any dragging on it. Hope this helps.
My small drain hose had tear replaced it. After end of wash cycle agitator made noise. Next wash cycle water drained in floor.
Answer Hello John. You will need to check and see where the water is coming from. Make sure the new hose you put on did not come off. Hope this helps.
Where is the drive belt located on this washer?
Answer Hello David. The drive belt is located under the bottom on this model. Hope this helps.
