The fittings on my filter housing and valve are starting to leak (like dripping). Is it the tubing or o-rings inside of connections. 1/4" and 5/16" fittings. Thanks

I have a side by side whirlpool refrigerator with the water filter on top. I was replacing the air damper so I had to take the housing around the water filter housing loose and it set like that for a couple of hours. When I put it all back together and tried to put the water filter back in it wouldn't go all the way in. I looked in the holes the filter goes in and there looked to be ice in there. I got a long straw and blew in the holes until they were clear. I tried the filter again and it went in a little farther but still not all the way. I kept work with it and it finally went in, but now it leaks out of the hole the plastic guide on the filter goes in. It leaks only after I run water out of the dispenser. What can I do to stop the leaking.

Every new filter the 4396508 or a WF 285 will not screw in. The top housing on the old 285 is a different configuration and goes in and out with no problem. Every filter I buy doesn't fit. I used the last of my older filters that fit and now it's over a year since I changed one. Is there a design change? Do I need a new housing?

Looking at the back of the unit...Water is spewing (with force like facet turned on) at the back right corner of the freezer. In between the copper line and the electrical wiring just above the inlet valve. There is a rectangular like inch by inch and a half piece of sheet metal there...and its spewing from underneath that piece of metal. There is no way to get to it from under the freezer or from inside the freezer. Any ideas?

Water is leaking where the water lines connect to the filter housing what part number works with my model? Is 2186443 compatible ? Filter has not been changed in a while could that be the problem instead of the filter housing?

My main problem is low water flow from the water dispenser, plus smaller ice cube size which allows the harvested cube to catch under the fingers of the ice maker. Believing low water flow is the root cause, I changed the filter.-- Nope. I verified good water flow from the house wall valve.-- Good and plenty. I theroized a debris plug within the water supply valve, so I dissassembled and cleaned the small screens within the valve body (which wasn't much) --Nope. I then replaced the water inlet valve believing the solinoids were getting weak and not allowing enough flow. --nope. I then checked the flow coming from the filter housing -- terrible. I'm now down to the conclusion there is a blockage within the filter housing it'self. Have you heard if this before? Am I on the right path? That is the only thing left to replace.

I would like to know which hole is the main hole where the water comes from. I mean the holes do not have the same size (dia). So I was wondering if the bigger hole is the main and the other, the smaller one, is the outlet of filtered water? They also don't have the same color. So i Wonder which color is the inlet and which color is the outlet of filtered water ? thank

Purchased a filter that was hard to install, clips on side below o-rings did not have top open. During installation the end of the filter housing separated from the main housing. Appeared to connect easily enough and re-installed housing. Installed old filter and turned on water, no leaks. After purchasing a filter that had good clips, top not blocked in, attempted to change. When we removed the filter the unit leaked extensively, not the normal amount you expect from a normal filter change! Water is coming out of the housing itself, have to move unit and turn off water before changing filter. After new filter installed and water turned on, no leaks. What could be causing the water to leak full flow? Do we need to replace housing and will this stop the leaking during filter change?
