When I pull the selector knob out to add water. There is a delay to start filling. The delay can vary from 2 seconds to 15 seconds. Would that be the water inlet valve assembly failing?
Thanks for your help
Answer Hello KB. It could be the valve. The best way to determine this is to test for power to the water valve when you start the cycle, and then see if there is no water when there is power there. If so, you will need to replace the water valve on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
I have a commercial washer. My questions are, what is the purpose of the thermistor located at end of the water valve? The second question, the washer has a pressure switch. The old one has been replaced now. The new one stays engaged when the machine does not need it. Could you tell me the problem? Thanks
Answer Hello Shug,
The thermistor on the water valve monitors the water temperature for the wash water so the proper water temperature will be injected into the tub for a proper wash result. The pressure switch has to have power to it all the time so it can pass the voltage to start the wash cycle. If the power were discontinued to the pressure switch when the unit filled, it would shut down at that point.
My washer will not switch from hot to cold is this the water inlet valve or temp switch or both?
Answer Hello Dion. In most cases it is the temp switch W10184148. However, the thermistor on the valve can cause the problem as well. Now, this unit will not change based on the selection. It will change when it deems it is needed through the temp switch.
Ok what is a thermistor needed for on the water inlet valve? What does it control?
Answer Hello Trevor. The thermistor controls the water temp coming into the washer.
Washer will fill up when on COLD or Warm setting. When on hot only cold comes in. Thanks for your time.
Answer Alf, if the unit is only filling cold on the hot water setting replace the inlet valve part number 3979346. Thanks!
