The washer will not drain. I changed the pump. It still will not drain. What can I do to get it working?
Answer Hello Wilbur,
If the motor is running and the unit will not drain you will need to pull the spin basket to see if an article of clothing has jumped the spin basket and stopped up the opening where the pump hose connects to the outer tub assembly. If the motor is not running you will need to verify the timer is sending voltage to the motor. If so, the motor 661600 most likely has a bad winding. If not, the timer 3946448 is suspect. As a note, the wiring between the timer and motor should be checked before ordering the timer.
Washer fills and agitates then during drain it makes a clicking sound and room light flickers like a heavy draw on electrical system, clothes are not as dry after spin as they once were. It is doing this on both reg. and permanent press cycles.
You will want to check the drain pump for obstructions and or damage in which it is causing the motor to bog down to try to turn it. If the pump is faulty it could cause this effect or if there is something caught in it that would cause the pump to not want to turn.
My machine wash but won't drain or spin. What may be wrong with it?
Answer Hello Wanda. You need to check and see if the lid switch is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit.
I have a Whirlpool washer that doesn't drain but spins. It's not the lid switch, checked the pump and it seems good, no obstructions in the hoses or the pump. The washer fills and agititates, but when it's supposed to drain just jumps straight to spin spinning without stopping to drain. Any idea of what it could be? Thanks
Answer Darrell, the issue with the washer is a mechanical issue, you will need to check the basket drive assembly, clutch and gearcase. We've made several attempts to provide you with the technical information you need for accessing and checking the components, but the e mails are returned as demon mailers. Please repost with an e mail address that will work and we'll try again. Thanks
Water won't come out when I try to wash.
Answer Hello Joe. Check and see if the screens are clogged on the water valve and if there is any screens in the washer hoses. Replace the water valve if needed. We will need your model number to help you more with this. Please call 1-877-477-7278 or post your model number with a new question on the parts page. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/modelnumber_locator.aspx
I think I have a bad pump and have removed it for inspection. With the pump removed, I stuck a tool in the outlet to turn the impeller and it turned very hard. How freely should it turn and what else should I look for?
Answer Mark, You've looked far enough, the impeller shaft should turn rather freely, especially if you're using a tool. Apparently the pump shaft bearings are starting to seize and cause a "drag" on the motor. Replace the pump 3363394 and you should be fine.
