This Whirlpool Washer has (4) Temp. Settings, Cold, Cool, Warm & Hot. When you turn it to Warm and start the Washer just cold water comes out. Before when you tryed to wash in warm the washer ran hot water for a while then cold water it would do that until it was full of water then started washing, that was the way it regulated the Temp.
You will want to check the water temperature thermistor. The thermistor will be located on the inlet valve assembly and should have a resistance reading at 50 degrees of 97K to 102K ohms, at 77 degrees 49k to 51K ohms and at 104 degrees 26K to 27.2k ohms. If the resistance does not check ok then the thermistor is faulty and the water inlet assembly would need to be replaced. The part number needed is W10423125.
Very little cold water comes out that goes into tank. How can I check if its clogged?
Answer Hello Sonny. You remove the hose and look for clogged screens. If all is clear, you will need to order and replace the water valve on the unit.
Machine does not drain - hose is not clogged - when cycle gets to drain cycle it starts to spin & drain then shuts down? Do I just need a new water pump/
Answer Tom, Yes the drain pump 3363394 is the place to start. Your washer should drain then spin, not spin and drain simultaneously. The excess water and "drag" from a faulty pump, could cause the motor to overheat and trip the overload protector and the washer would stop running.
My washing machine makes a hum for 5 seconds, after that it turns off.
Answer Jose, Once you get the cabinet off, the pump 3363394 is the first place to start. dismount it from the motor, and check to see if there is an article stuck in the impeller or if the impeller is seized. If the pump is the issue, it can cause the motor to hum and "trip" the motor overload switch and shut down. If the motor still hums with the pump dismounted, then you will need to test the timer circuits and the motor windings circuit to determine which part has failed.
The washer will not drain. I changed the pump. It still will not drain. What can I do to get it working?
Answer Hello Wilbur,
If the motor is running and the unit will not drain you will need to pull the spin basket to see if an article of clothing has jumped the spin basket and stopped up the opening where the pump hose connects to the outer tub assembly. If the motor is not running you will need to verify the timer is sending voltage to the motor. If so, the motor 661600 most likely has a bad winding. If not, the timer 3946448 is suspect. As a note, the wiring between the timer and motor should be checked before ordering the timer.
Washer fills and agitates then during drain it makes a clicking sound and room light flickers like a heavy draw on electrical system, clothes are not as dry after spin as they once were. It is doing this on both reg. and permanent press cycles.
You will want to check the drain pump for obstructions and or damage in which it is causing the motor to bog down to try to turn it. If the pump is faulty it could cause this effect or if there is something caught in it that would cause the pump to not want to turn.
