My trash compactor works, but only when I tape down the buttons. When I lift up on the lever it no longer initiates the compaction. Buy, I can tape the black button down (tricking the compactor to think that I have closed the door) and tape the white button down that initiates the compaction and the compactor will cycle. Is this the correct replacement part that I need to fix my trash compactor?

Hello I ordered and have correct replacement part W10342596 I found instructions online but no template: Do you have access to template please it was not included, Starting in the second quarter, compactors went to a new integrated switching redesign. The switch has changed from a normally open switch to a normally closed switch that is held open by a new actuator lever. Replacement parts for the old switch will sub to a kit that contains: a normally closed switch, an actuator assembly, toe guard, a template, two screws and an instruction sheet. Thank you

The toe plate when pushed up activates the compactor. There is a metal switch that connects to the power switch when the door is closed. Where can I buy just the metal part without having to purchase a complete kit?

My Whirlpool trash compactor is 18 years old. I need a off-on switch part #9871139 that I have not been able to find. Is there another off-on switch that would fit my compactor?

Our trash masher is 15 years old and still works fine except - I removed it to replace the flooring underneath it and when I put it back in the space the foot pedal that you push to get it open is very hard to push down, a lot harder than before it was removed. What might be the problem? Thanks Jim

Is JUST the metal actuator for the door switch available? The switch is O.K. The piece of metal that closes the switch when the door closes broke at the foot mounting.
