Can I use a high level thermostat instead of a cycling thermostat?

Answer Ron, you would not want to use a high limit in place of a cycling thermostat. That would create a real safety issue with your dryer getting too hot. The correct thermostat needs to be ordered and used according to what model # you have. Thanks.

My kids have been doing their own laundry. However no one remembers to clean the lint trap. The dryer now does not heat up to dry the clothes. Cycles fine but with cold air. What new part am I most likely to need, am thinking Thermal fuse,thermostat,I know there are two. Any suggestions ?

Answer Hello Marge. You will need to test the thermostats and the flame sensor and make sure they are good. They should read closed for continuity. Also, check the igniter and make sure it is getting hot enough to light the gas. My coin operated dryer can be used without putting coins in it and the cool down light stays on once the timer stops. What is the problem?

My Kenmore electric dryer's timer does not work properly. It does not advance in the right amount of time and, therefore, runs forever. It will shut off if I physically move it to the "off" position. The clothes are drying, but I can't leave it unattended because it won't shut off on its own. Is this the timer only? Do I need to replace multiple parts and at what expense?

Answer Judy, For the timer not advancing is that the motor on the timer has stopped working and just the timer 696876 would need to be replaced.

Answer Ken, This sounds like it may be a venting issue, especially if it is taking longer for the clothes to dry. You will want to check the venting from the blower wheel all the way to the outside of the home for restrictions.

Hi! I have coin operated Kenmore gas dryer model 110.77403100 at one of my rental properties and the tenants are saying that their clothes are not completely drying. It requires two cycles (more money) to get their clothes dry. Where do I look? The vent hose is clear, but have tore the dryer apart to completely clean the inside out.. Thanks in advance!

Answer Troy, You will need to check the cycling thermostat to make sure that it is not causing short cycles. Check to make sure that the blower wheel is not caked with lint. Check to make sure that the coils on the gas valve are not going bad. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3.
