We are trying to replace the adjuster on the top rack of our dishwasher. We don't want to order the part until we know how to remove it. We're down to the final step, but cannot seem to separate it from the rack 'wire'. It looks like we have to squeeze three tabs at once to separate it, but are worried we'll break it. Is there a trick, or a special tool for this?
Start by prying the tabs at the top of the adjuster cover out of the square holes. You can then pry the tabs at the bottom of that cover out of the round hole on each side of the positioner. Remove the cover and take off the positioner. Remove the clips from the adjuster assembly. Once you remove those clips, the adjuster assembly can be removed from the rack.
I need to replace the adjuster (#W10350376), track (#W10195623) and positioner (#W10195840) on my dishwasher. Kitchenaid was supposed to send instructions and did not. Any instructions available or a "how to" video? Thanks
Answer Hello Frank,
I'm sorry but this is one of those things that the manufacturer didn't even provide information to their own technicians on. They assume that the technicians will look at the old assembly as a guide to install the new parts. They didn't realize that in many cases, the old part has fallen off from being broken. All we can tell you on this part is that when installed correctly it will operate as designed and should not drop out of the tracks. You will just have to try it different ways until it appears to be correct. The service manual doesn't even have a hand drawn picture of the rack assembly. The best illustration I could locate is the parts explosion on the upper rack and track parts page.
