I have a Whirlpool washer model LDA5700. The agitator has a white, fairly large screw-on cap, which is easily removed by turning it counterclockwise to remove it. It is threaded on a stud, which disappears thru a hole on the top of the agitator. There is no "nut" that can be seen at this stage that many books and people say to remove with a socket in order to remove the agitator. The agitator is stuck (at least I think so) but I don't want to pull hard on it until I know for certain that there is not a nut hidden below the white plastic that forms the top of the agitator, and only then I need to figure out how to get at it. Does the agitator simply pull up after the screw-on decorative cap is off the short stud? I just can't figure out how to get the agitator off this machine! Thanks for any directions you can give me.
