I have been noticing rust stains on my white clothes after washing, but otherwise the washer appears to be working properly. I removed the agitator bolt and agitator inside the wash tub and see that there is a lot of rust built up around the 'cog' that connects to the agitator. I can't tell what part is rusting. It's not the bolt. Can I remove the agitator plate from inside the tub without laying the entire machine down on its side?

I just ordered the parts to fix the upper agitator that is not agitating. I am not currently at home and was wondering what length socket extender to you need to reach down to get that bolt out? I have the ratchet. I have the 7/16 socket but no extender that'll reach that far down. Thanks.

Repairman said agitator was corroded and needed replacing(he inferred it was a major repair and to buy a new washer. Cabriolet WTW6700TU1 is it likely that I might be able to replace the agitator? I have taken out the agitator and various parts and they seem to fit together and not be worn. The main drive bolt seems a bit rusty. Doesn't seem to be any stripped parts.

Latest Questions

How tight should the agitator bolt be made? Would a 1/4" drive ratchet be sufficient?

I am trying to remove the coins and sea shells my kids left in their pockets. They have gone between the agitator plate and the tub. I got the bolt out of the top center of the agitator plate with no problems but I am unable to lift out the agitator like it shows in most of the videos where it comes out easily. Any thoughts? I don't want to break it but need to get the stuff out.

I took the agitator out to clean it. Nothing was broken and I did not clean the grease from the agitator bolt. I put everything back together, tightened the bolt to "snug" (not a 1/4 turn past finger tight - like spark plugs) every thing seems to work properly spins correctly, sounds good, no odd pitches or vibrations. But when I look at it from the top down as it is spinning - the agitator now looks like it is spinning at a ever so slight angle. The gasket on the bolt did come off and I washed it. I put the flat side of the gasket next to the bolt and the slightly curved side down. Should the gasket be in the opposite position? Do I need to tighten up the bolt more or is there some way to doublecheck? Thank you
