Water is leaking from the bottom of the tub. Is there a special tool for removing the agitator? I'm assuming a bearing or a seal has gone bad.

Answer Hello Randall,
There is a hidden screw in the side of the agitator. It has a 1/4 inch hex head. It doesn't have to be removed, only loosened. This will allow you to easily lift the agitator out of the unit. To correct the leak, the outer tub seal 6-2095720 and tub bearing 6-2040130 need to be replaced.
Maytag a9700 motor runs but agitater doesn't agitate. I'm smelling like something is burning. What can cause this?

Answer Hi Victor. Remove power. Remove the front panel. Lift the unit up and support it. You are probably smelling the belts burning part # 12112425. Remove the belts and rotate the pump part # 6-2022030, motor part # 12002353. and the main pulley. The main pulley will rotate and click one way. The opposite way it will compress a brake spring to lift the brake pads so the unit can spin. Thank You.
