Our problem is with Kenmore Elite dishwasher model 665.13129K703.
It is leaking underneath the unit on right side near the front. Not leaking from door itself. It appears to be coming from area that corresponds to just under where float is located in compartment above.
The float itself moves freely. Could a bad switch cause leaking?
Any suggestions what might be broken?
You will want to check the units spray arms to makes sure that they are not clogged or cracked. If they are, this could cause a ripple effect that would allow the unit to leak from the area you are referring to. The switch could not make it leak. The only other way that it would leak from this area is if the float has gotten water in it and it is allowing the water to fill a little too high.
Our Kenmore elite diswasher has mold growing in the air inlet at the bottom inside of the door. After 1.5 years of use we noticed a bad smell, after feeling the bottom of the door I noticed old food/mold I then took off the air inlet and the amount of slimmy mold/food was disgusting. What would cause the mold/food on the inside of the air inlet??
The food ending up in the air gap, also known as beaching, is caused by 1 of 2 things. 1. Too much detergent usage. You want to make sure that you are using the correct amount of detergent per grains of hardness of water. 2. Water not hot enough to activate detergent. You have to make sure that the water temp in the tub after the first fill is at least 120 degrees. You also want to make sure that you are purging the water line before starting dishwasher. Run the water at the sink til it is at its hottest point then turn on dishwasher.
