The drain hose has a cone shape part called the air trap. Does this air trap connects to anything or just hangs as it is? If this air trap end spills some water out, what must be wrong with it?
Answer Hello Edwin,
The purpose of the air trap is to provide a volume of air to be compressed so the correct amount of water will be put into the tub before the pressure switch is actuated, as the other end of the hose is connected to the pressure switch. Without it, the pressure switch would need to be redesigned to allow the proper water fill. It also has the added advantage of providing a small area for suds bubbles to pop so they don't get in the pressure switch hose and clog it with detergent residue. Water will be in the air trap normally. If it is leaking, it will definitely have to be replaced as this is a crucial part that controls the water fill level in the tub and a leak would prevent the pressure from being transferred to the pressure switch.
Is this white ball inside the hose or just at the outer side of the hose?
Answer Hello Mike,
The ball is in the drain hose between the outer tub and the drain pump. To replace it you will need to remove the tub-to-pump hose from the outer tub and it goes down in the big end of this hose.
