I think I need to replace the bearing, which is listed as a upper/lower. Machine sounds like a jet taking off when spinning. Could this be the issue, the bearing and is there only one bearing and it is just listed as upper/lower meaning one bearing?
Answer Hello Mich,
There is an upper and a lower bearing on these units. The upper bearing is called the main bearing assembly but it only fails if the outer tub seal has leaked detergent water into it so, the seal must be changed at the same time. The part numbers are dependant on the first two digits of the serial number. If the first two numbers are 13 or lower you will need to order seal kit number W10116791 and the bearing is included in this kit. The lower bearing for serial numbers beginning with 13 or lower is 12002013. If your serial number starts with 14 or higher, you will need to order seal kit number W10116790 and bearing 40004201P. The lower bearing is 40004001.
My machine washes ok but on the discharge cycle the gear is sliping. Whats wrong?
Answer Hello Gifford. If the gears are slipping in the unit, then it sounds like the transmission W10219148 is bad and will need to be replaced in the unit. Check and make sure it is not the helix 40047402 that is worn on the pulley. If so, it will not release the brake properly.
I purchased this part and replaced it on my appliance. Now the machine will not agitate at all. What could be the problem? Series 10 on this appliance.
Answer Hi George. You need to lift and support the bottom of the unit. Then see if you can turn the belt in both directions. One way it will allow the inner tub to spin. The other way will lock the tub and allow the agitator to work. If it does not, then the first thing to check is the electrical end. Remove the belt and see if the timer allows the motor to work one direction for agitation and then the opposite direction for spin . This will tell you if the timer is sending the voltage to the motor and the motor working. Separates the electrical from the mechanical. Start thinking in this way. Let us know what part is binding, or parts needed. Thank You.
