Our clothes sometimes get caught between the bellows and stainless steel drum, and the clothes get torn and ruined. I noticed a gap of about 3/8 inch between the drum and bellows. Is there a way to reduce that gap by adjusting the way the bellows is mounted, or some other solution? I noticed on the newer models, the gap is much smaller. I hate to throw away a good working machine but we never know when we will have to throw away a favorite shirt. We are not overloading the washer. We have tried doing half loads and have much less of a problem that way, but it seems like a waste of water and electricity. As a side note, we have found small socks in the filter below, and started using a mesh bag for small items. That is when I started thinking the gap is too large.

The front seal on my washer is half torn (removed on the tub side of the bellow) causing clothes to get caught and shred. Repairman advised washing clothes in a bag to avoid them getting caught between the drum and the door and repair cost would be $500. If I replace the bellow will that solve the problem?

Latest Questions

So it looks likes the bellows on this washer is leaking where water splashes up against the door. Is a leaking bellows, for whatever reason, a common problem on just this model or is it common on front loaders ? We have had appliance for just over 2 years now. Does cleaning the lip of that gasket (bellows) improve the longevity of it? We have followed directions for leaving door open to prevent mildew, etc.

Replaced the Bellow (#W10381562 ) on this unit today. No leaks but when I wash clothes the unit stops after the wash cycle and it does not go to the rinse cycle. The unit beeps and the wash light blinks once, then pauses for 2 seconds, then flashes 8 times, and repeats this cycle. Checked the water flow and it is great, and the inlets are clean. Never had this problem before changing the bellow.... is there something I may have done wrong with the below installation?
