My washer has troubles in the spin cycle 99 percent of the time. When it comes time for the spin cycle it will drain, then sound as if it is trying to spin but the drum doesn't exactly move. I have to open the lid and twist the barrel and close the lid, some times this will work on the first try some times I have to repeat several times. There are also times when I smell something like a burning belt. I think that I need to replace the belt but want to make sure before I pull out the washer and open it up. I don't want to be without a washer while I am waiting for parts. Does this sound like the belt is my issue or do you feel it could be something else.

My washer went through the wash cycle but did not drain. I then tried to get it to go to the rinse cycle and nothing happened. So I manually removed the small load of towels and drained the water. After moving the washer out to the yard I laid it on it's side and noticed that the belt was worn out! I did check the hoses and there was no obstructions and cleaned the inlet water screens. I can't afford a new washer and was wondering if the belt is the only problem or is there something else?
