My old belt (megadyne el 1922 h8) broke on my dryer. I ordered a new belt for the model I have. The new belt is part number megadyne el 1904 h8 (whirlpool number 8183101). It does not fit. I called several parts places including whirlpool and they say it is correct even with an 18 mm difference in the belts. Is there a trick to this belt or do you guys have one that will fix my dryer?
Answer Hello A.J.,
The information I have pulled from the factory shows no idler pulley but states:
"Once you have accessed inside the tumble dryer:
1. Pass the belt through the pulley of the motor.
2. Thread the belt up through the lateral tensor* up to the side of the drum (* the tumble dryer may have more than one tensor, or it may have none).
3. Slowly turn the drum, applying force to the belt.
As far as I can tell the belt should fit and operate normally even though it is extremely tight.
