Heavy duty 80 series, serial# me0919653, model/stock# 96586200, dryer heats but does not tumble (turn). Is a belt needed?
Answer Hi Rellery, The first three digits of your model number are missing but if I use 110.96586200 for your Kenmore dryer, I get a valid model number. Please check to be sure your model starts with 110. That said, your dryer belt is part# 341241 and it would keep the drum from turning. Thanks!
My dryer stopped in the middle of a load. It still gets power, but just won't turn. The grid says "sensing". I've taken the back off and there is a very thin belt that looks broken and frayed. Is part # AP3873695 the correct belt to order? Is the exchange/replacement a job simple enough for me to handle? If so, how do I do it?
Answer Forrest, 8547157 is the correct belt for the model number you supplied. Here's the repair info you asked for: " 1. Unplug dryer or disconnect power. 2. Turn off gas supply to dryer. 3. Raise the lint screen lid and remove the two screws from the top of the lint screen
air duct.4. Partially open the dryer door. 5. To remove the cabinet front: a) While lifting the front corners of the cabinet top, press a putty knife against the left and right top locks and release them from the top. Rotate the cabinet top up and rest it against a wall. b) disconnect the door switch connector from the harness connector. c) Remove the two 5/16? hex-head screws from the cabinet front. d) Lift the front panel off the cabinet, unhook it from the bottom two hangers, and remove it. 4. Reach under the drum to the drive motor
and push the idler wheel arm to relieve the spring tension on the belt, then slide the belt off the idler and motor pulleys. 5. Loosen the two top and remove the two bottom 5/16? hex-head screws from the front bulkhead. 6. Lift and unhook the two top bulkhead keyhole
slots from the screws, and remove the bulkhead from the dryer. 7. To remove the belt and drum: a) Slide the belt off the back of the drum
and remove it. b) Pull the drum out the front of the cabinet and remove it. REASSEMBLY NOTE: When you reinstall the drum and belt, make sure that the hole in the drum is toward the rear of the unit, and that both the front and rear drum felt seals are flared out and not
folded under the edges of the drum." Check and insure the belt switch and wiring were not damaged by the belt, and reverse the procedure. Thanks and Good Luck
