I have had this front load washer for about 7 years with no maintenance other than my wife's ritualistic cleaning of the seal etc. to keep it smelling clean. It operates normally but, when beginning to spin and when slowing down it has a horrible knocking noise that varies due to speed. The washer is level and on a slab surface so I know it has to do with a worn out component. I am getting a belt and would like to know what additional items I should get. By the way my wife uses it at least twice a day everyday. It has had a hard life but she loves it.

My belt has been falling off and now it has snapped. When I put the belt back on the pulley, before it snapped, it seemed to track toward the tub and not stay in line. I noticed that the belt has ridges that fit with the motor pulley and the tub pulley has no ridges. Also, I checked the tub pulley and motor pulley, both seem to be firmly attached. Other than the obvious need for a new belt, is there anything I can do to get this belt to track properly so I do not have to continuously replace it? This will be the second belt this washer has eaten in two years.

Latest Questions

I replaced the belt on this washer around 8 months ago. It started spinning slow so I opened the back and saw the belt completely off both the tub and motor pulleys. I replaced the belt again and noticed that when it is spun by hand, it tracks toward the tub. How do I keep it tracking straight. I looked at both pulleys and the motor mounts all SEEM to be ok. I did notice that the motor pulley and the belt both have ridges and the tub pulley is flat. Tub pulley was replaced about 8 months ago as well.

This belt is really hard to put around both pulleys. Are there any special tools I should be using or another easier way to install?
