I opened the back panel of my freezer to get to the bimetl-def, which I have located, but my problem is that one of the bimetl-def (Brown)wire is connected to another wire (which leads to something else),crimped onto a wire connector with a male pin on the other end. I would have to cut both wires to disconnect the bimetl-def from the wire connector in order to change it out. My question is, I can't find the wire connector (with the male pin on the end which is inserted into a harnest), to fasten both wires.

my unit is not defrosting, I check the "bi-metal" and the heater and it check out ok, so I am trying to find out what controls the defrost cycle. Is it the two piece part called Electronic Control 1st part number was 2303804, but changed to a 2304102. My question is, does this part control the defrost cycle??

Thanks for your reply on the hot mullion. Coils cleaned and fan motor working. Mullions still warm all the time very hot sometimes. Fan in the freezer constantly running. I'm thinking since this is a a bi-metal thermostat, the metal could be fatigued and is partially on all the time. Like in a car, when a thermostat starts to fail, the car runs warmer, and over time it fails and the radiator overheats. Does defrost thermostat work the same way. Or is it either on or off. If so why is the fan constantly running? Could this be timer issue? Thanks Tom

Kitchenaid side by side. The mullion on the panel between the freezer and fresh food compartment gets very hot during defrost cycle. After defrost cycle ends it cools down some but still stays quite warm to the touch. All else seems fine. Is there something failing that I should replace as a preventative measure? Thanks for your help.
