Answer Hello Stan,
You may want to order on to put in the unit. This part is used to prevent the water tank from freezing. If it freezes, it will have to be replaced since the expansion of the ice will split the tank and cause water into the bottom of the unit and will put water into the floor.
How do I remove this glorified overpriced over engineered piece of styrofoam. So that I do not damage it while replacing the water tank.

Answer Hello MaskedBird. Once the cover is removed, you will release the tap (if any) and slide the block off the tank assembly.
