Can the bearings be lubricated or replaced on the motor or do I need to replace the motor? It currently overheats and quits.
Answer Hello Dennis,
No sir, I'm sorry to say that the bearings are not replaceable on these motors. They can't be lubricated as they are sealed bearings. If it overheats, I would definitely check the ducting to insure there isn't a squirrels nest or anything blocking the duct. This may sound ridiculous but I have removed at least 5 bird or squirrel nests in the past three years.
What is the size of the Blower Wheel lock nut and does it require a special tool?
Answer Dennis, The "set screw" or "Lock nut" that holds the blower wheel to the motor shaft is a "hex head" and will require a set of "allen wrenches" or "hex key" wrenchesto remove and install the wheel. I could be wrong, but it appears the set screw would require a 3/16 or 1/4 inch wrech to loosen and remove the set screw. Thanks and Good Luck
Will I need a new fan to replace the motor?
Answer Hello Ken. No, you can unscrew the set screw on the blower wheel Y707985 and slide it off the motor shaft. Hope this helps.
