I"m looking at the schematic for this unit and I see a defrost terminator but I don"t see a defrost thermostat. What am I missing? My coil keeps loading up with frost and I think I need a board. Is there a way to test this. Thank you for your help.
On the schematic the defrost thermostat will be called the defrost terminator and on the unit will be located at the top of the evaporator coil. You can test the defrost thermostat and heater for continuity. If there is continuity then the adaptive defrost board is at fault.
The freezer side side is working fine but the food side is not getting cold enough. The fan is working and if you lower the freezer at #2 for a while then the food side starts to get cold but when you turn back the freezer to #4 it stops cooling again. I think ice is forming inside the freezer back and blocking the air flow. Could it be the defrost timer or do I have to change the whole board?
Answer Hello Hanis. It sounds like you may have a defrost problem with the unit. Check and see if there is any frost build up on the evaporator coils in the freezer. If so, you will need to test the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the defrost timer 67004704.
