I already replaced the Solenoids on my parents dryer based on the symptoms they told me about. However after I installed the new Solenoids and the dryer wasn't funtioning properly I was then told of another problem of a gas smell when starting the dryer. After installing the new Solenoids I tested them and I only get varying resistance. Why would the reistance vary? I thought it would be the flame sensor causing this faulty reading but the sensor has continuity. Do have a recommendation? When I have time this weekend I am going back over this weekend to test all parts. Thank you for your time.

What do you mean about the resistance measurement under a heat command? A simple solenoid will always have a fixed resistance only varying some as it heats up. Why would it go to an open condition under a heat command? I have a problem where the burner will ignite and cycle to regulate temperature in the beginning but over time it will stop working. The igniter goes into a state where it turns on then off repeatedly but the burner never ignites. when this happens I also don't hear the valves being pulled open by the solenoids. All the thermocouples seem to be working since the igniter still works. Why would the solenoids quit working? Do valves ever stick closed so that the solenoid can't open the valve?

Why isn't the heat staying on during length of cycle? It will start out hot, but at some point will cool down. When we try to start again, the glow bar will light up but then the flame doesn't ignite.
