There are 2 switches the lid switch and a smaller one. What does the smaller one do?

Answer Hello James. The small switch is the check switch for the unit. It is used to detect an off balance load. If either switch is bad, it is best to replace the lid switch assembly 22001682 on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3.
