How do I gain access to the heating element and thermostat to check them?
Rich for Model Number LNC7764A71
Answer Hello Rich,
You need to use a paint scraper or putty knife to release the spring clips under the main top. Chances are that on this model, the thermal fuse is the component that is at fault. Most of the time when the exhaust gets crimped behind the unit or clogged at some point, the thermal fuse will fail. This is the small thermostat looking component with two white wires leading to it.it is under the main top at the rear of the drum on the right hand end of the heating element. Be sure to unplug the unit before gaining access to it as there is 120Vac riding on it at all times when the unit is plugged in.
I recently bought a Hi Limit Thermostat for my model, but do the degrees printed on the part matter? The picture says 80 F. Will a t-stat with a lower degree matter or make any difference?
Trisha for Model Number ADE7000AYW
Answer Hello Trisha! While the temperature ratings on parts like thermostats are important, this is the one approved for your model according to the manufacturer. While it may be slightly different than the original part, 53-0771 is indeed the one you need. Thanks.
