After taking the broiler element out it doesn't appear to look bad. Is there a way to check it to see if it is bad, like a continuity check or something? Just don't want to buy a new one if I don't need it. Thanks for the help. Happy Thanksgiving!

Answer Hi Rachel. Yes, you can use a ohmmeter and check to see if it has 18-28ohms. Also check it for shorts to the case From one lead to another (grounds). It can be open ( 0- ohms ). If this is the issue, then the element is part # 814431. You should have 120 vac on one lead constantly , and awaiting the other 120 vac from the clock control. So if you check the element for voltage of 240 vac, do it with one lead off the terminal (carefully) . This way you do not "read " voltage through the element. Thank You.

Answer Hello Dennis. Disconnect the power to the unit. Remove the screws securing the element in place and pull the element out of the back wall enough to unplug the wires going to the element. Remove the wires from the element and install them onto the new element 814431. Push the element into place and install the screws into the element to secure it. Restore the power and check for proper operation. Hope this helps.
