We had a grease fire in the oven. The fire was quickly extinguished and cleaned up. When we go to use the oven now, it never gets out of the pre-heat section of the process. The oven can be heard igniting and a flame seen from the vents for about a minute and then it shuts off. A few minutes pass and it ignites again and shuts off after a few seconds, occasionally you will hear just clicks and the oven does not ignite. It seems something was damaged by the fire. Does it sound like any part in particular? and something that can be replaced by a non-tecnician?

Answer Hello David, You may want to check you oven sensor to ensure that it is not defective. You should read 1100 ohms at room temperature. You would also want to check your gas valve coils to unsure that they are not bad. You should have 216 ohms resistance from broil to common and from bake to common. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. My burners work fine but the oven when I turn it on there is no clicking nor no heat. Is tt the spark ignitor?

Answer Linda, Yes, it could be an issue with the spark module W10331686 , or the gas distribution valve coils W10293048. The DSI spark module is usually located in the control panel of the range, and somewhat simple to replace, depending on the model number(you forgot to attach a model number) Thanks and Good Luck

My range is about 3 years old. About a 1 yr ago the burner for the lower (bake) part of the oven would randomly shut off while baking. There was the clicking sound but no re-igniting to keep the oven at it's cooking tempuratures. I determined it was the igniter and replaced it. Now it's doing the same thing again. It also does this while I'm trying to start the oven, clicking sound, but no ignition. Problem seems to have gotten worse in the last two weeks. Are these igniters so cheap that I have to replace them every year or is there something else wrong with my oven?

Answer Hello Carol. Check and see if the igniter is dirty and if it is sparking. If it is not sparking, you will need to test and see if it reads closed for continuity. If so, you may have a bad spark module W10331686. If it is open, you will need to replace the igniter 9758079. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3.
