I have a Jenn-Air fridge, model JFC2089HES. The right side french door opens when the left side door is closed. There were no issues for the first 3 and a half years. The gasket appears to be intact and the fridge is level. The right side door slight rises when opened. The right side is slightly higher than the left.
Is it possible to adjust the door?
Answer Hello Peter,
The doors are on risers so opening them should make them raise up. As far as one door being higher than the other, this is directly related to the leveling of the unit. If the right door is higher than the left door when both doors are closed, the right front leg of the unit need to be shortened. Bubble level is not the issue, but how the unit sets in relation to the twist that the leg adjustment puts in the body of the unit. This relationship can be related to a shoe box setting up on it's end. If you put a spacer under one corner, the entire box develops a "twist" to it which affects how the door strikes the front.
There is a possibility that a door closer 67003639 has broken. This is like a plastic cam that causes the door to close unless opened to a specific point, where it will actually prevent door closure. The center divider 12722803B also has a bearing on the opposite side door so the strike at the top should be inspected.
