I need to replace the sound shield or cabinet shield surrounding my Whirlpool dishwasher; WP P/N 8573242. How does this attach to the dishwasher or does it just lay on top and then drape down the sides? Will it stay secure when sliding the dishwasher back into place?

Answer Hi Karen. The insulation/sound barrier part # 8573242 usually is carefully pushed back with the unit loose. Some better technicians will take the time to make sure it is taped in place. On the top at the front there is a wrap around steel frame behind the latch strike area. Place the top of the insulation taped to the back of this frame. Make sure it is centered on each side. Tape it just behind the door springs so they do not get wrapped internally. Thank You.
